Congratulations on coming to the right place – yoga is for everyone!
Every Bikram class is beginner friendly, no experience necessary. Our teachers are trained to help you grow from that first class through to your 1,000th (and all those in-between).
Preparation
If you’ve never ventured into Bikram Yoga before, here are our top tips to prepare for that first class:
- Hydrate – drink plenty of water in the lead up to your class, trying to hydrate during class is already too late. Having electrolytes or coconut water on hand always helps.
- Eat – a light meal before or snack before class is recommended but try to leave 2 hours between your last heavy meal. The less in your stomach, the better you’ll feel.
- Wear – form fitting clothes are best for a class that’ll have you breaking a sweat from start to finish. Shorts with a sports bra or just shorts for the guys ensures you won’t overheat.
- Arrive – on time. Capacity is limited so bookings are necessary and doors open 30 minutes before class. First timers please arrive earlier.
- Stay – we encourage students to stay in the room throughout the session. It’s natural to need a break, particularly for beginners, and we advise sitting down in your space until you’re ready to continue. It’ll ensure our teachers can keep an eye on you and avoid distracting fellow students.
- Breathe – if the postures or heat get to you, remain calm and breathe through your nose. Maintaining normal breathing will keep oxygen flowing steadily through your body and aid you through class.
- Return – we’d love you to come back as soon as you can! You’ll feel great after that first class and notice positive changes but we always recommend a minimum of 10 classes in your first 30 days. It takes about a month for your body to adjust to the poses, by which time you’ll be reaping the benefits to both body and mind.
- Bring – bringing family or friends makes it that much more fun. Many students bond through their practice and enjoy the studio camaraderie. Students on the Intro Offer can take advantage of our Bring-a-Buddy incentive, offering first classes to friends for only $10.
